Starting a Blog or YouTube Channel? Here’s What I Wish I Knew Earlier

Hey friends,
Hope you all are doing great. Today I just felt like talking about something that’s been on my mind. We all see people creating YouTube channels, starting blogs, posting reels, and making money online. It looks simple, right? But once you step in, you’ll know – it’s not just uploading a video or writing a few lines. There’s more to it.

I started my own blog recently, and let me be honest—it wasn’t smooth in the beginning. I thought, “Okay, I’ll post 2–3 blogs, and ads will start showing.” But when I applied for Google AdSense, I got that same error many people get: “Low value content.”

At first, I didn’t understand what it meant. My blog was original, it had my thoughts… so why was it called low value? Then I started doing some research and realized a few things I want to share here. If you’re planning to apply for AdSense or just want to start right, this might help you avoid mistakes.

1. Write Like You’re Talking to a Friend

Don’t try to write like an expert. Just be yourself. If you know something, explain it in your own way. Even if you use simple words, it’s okay. People connect more with real people than fancy language.

2. Don’t Rush – Post At Least 15–20 Blogs First

Google looks for consistent effort. One or two posts won’t work. I posted around 5 blogs and applied, and it got rejected. After that, I added more content, made sure each post had 800+ words, and things slowly started improving.

3. Add These Pages: About, Contact, and Privacy Policy

These are basic but very important. I didn’t add them at first, and that was one reason for rejection. After I added an About Me page (just a simple intro), Contact page (with email and form), and a Privacy Policy (you can generate it online), my site looked more complete.

4. Make It Easy to Read – No Clutter

Use clean design. Don’t stuff too many widgets or pop-ups. Keep a plain background, clear fonts, and focus on the content. Also, try to avoid grammar mistakes (I still make a few, but I’m improving).

5. Be Patient and Keep Learning

Honestly, I didn’t know even 10% of what I know now when I started. I watched videos, read other blogs, and made mistakes. That’s part of the journey. Don’t compare yourself to others. Just keep improving every day.

Final Thoughts

If you’re serious about building your blog or channel, give it time. Keep it real. Don’t chase just the money—focus on giving value. Slowly, success will follow. That’s what I’ve learned.

Thanks for reading till the end. If you found this useful, let me know in the comments or just say hi. I’ll be sharing more of my journey and tips here.

Until next time,
– Vinaya B.
